The public execution of Mohammad Tokanian(Amouri) an Al Ahwaz citizen took place at 8:00 A.M. on Saturday morning of June 29th, 2013.
The Al Ahwaz human rights organization still strongly believes that the victim was unjustifiably accused of drug trafficking just to face public execution.
The reliable sources reported that the victim was brutally tortured prior to the execution and there were clear signs of blood on his prison garment as he was being dragged for the public execution.
The sources have also confirmed that the victim’s death did not occur after his hanging, and he died following the extra force continuously used on his feet by the officer in charge of the public execution. The prisoner Mohammad Tokanian (Amouri) 35 years of age was married with children.
The prisoner was seriously beaten and tortured as he was being dragged to the gallows for public execution. The brutal treatment of prisoners is a clear violation of the Iranian Criminal Laws.
The international human rights laws totally condemn the death penalty, but government of Iran continues to violate such international law despite being committed to respect the law as one of the signatories of the agreement.
The sources have also reported that the government of Iran strongly continues its approval of death penalty and there is a death sentence approved every 5 to 9 hours in Iran.
