Iranian intelligence and security forces arrested on Monday, 29 July 2019 two Ahwazis and they are:

Ali Brihi, the 37-year-old son of Aidan, is married and has three children living in Aghrana neighborhood.
Ayoub Medji, son of Ismail, is 32 years old and a resident of Al-Rawas neighborhood.

According to our sources, the reason of the arrest is promotion of Sunni Islam in Ahwaz, which the Iranian authorities consider as a threat to their national security.
Iran's mullah regime claims sponsoring and supporting shiite sect and forbids promoting any otherdenominations.
According to the statistics ofthe detainees carried out by the Ahwazi Organization for Human Rights; Arrests on charge of converting to Sunnism is the second highest after political and cultural activists.
While international laws, including humanitarian laws, provide for the freedom of man to practice his or her religious rites and beliefs, these laws have not yet been applied in Iran.
Article 18 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights states:
Article 18
1. Every human being has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion. This includes his freedom of profess any religion, freedom to convert to any religion or belief of his\her choice, freedom to showhis\her religion or belief in worship, practice and education, alone or in a group, in public or separately.

2. No one may be subjected to coercion that would violate his\her freedom to believe inany religion, or to his freedom to convert to any religion or belief of his\her choice.

3. The freedom to show a religion or belief may only be subject to restrictions imposed by law that are necessary to protect public safety, public order, public health, public morals or the fundamental rights and freedoms of others.

4. States parties of this covenant pledge to respect the freedom of parents, or guardians when they are present, to ensure the religious and moral upbringing of their children in accordance with their own convictions.

The Ahwazi Human Rights Organization condemns the campaign of arbitrary arrests by the Iranian authorities against The Ahwazi activists, calling on the authorities to respect international laws and conventions and apply them on the ground.
State and non-governmental humanitarian organizations are also calling for urgent action to save prisoners of faith and political activists in Iranian prisons.
